Viking 65 Transom Faux Teak Paintwork
Faux teak Awlgrip and platinum turned lettering for a new owner.
Off The Hook Yacht Services was selected to complete a variety of items for the new owner of this 65’ Viking sportfish convertible. The most eye catching is the transom work by Artist Monique Richter. Look twice, this gorgeous transom isn’t real teak, but a faux teak finish. Monique travels globally to add the look of real wood to boats of all shapes and sizes using long lasting awlgrip paints. Faux teak has many advantages over real teak that is varnished, as it is nearly maintenance free with a clear coated topcoat, in awlgrip products, rather than traditional varnish. Say goodbye to annual maintenance coats with faux teak. The technique Monique has developed is so refined, most people wouldn’t recognize the difference between her work and real teak. Monique traveled to OTHYS to finish the transom, cockpit door, rocker launcher, helm pod and seats in her signature work. She took it a step further with hand turned platinum leaf transom lettering shadowed by blue hand painted awlgrip paint. This standout 65′ Viking will no doubt turn heads at her slip or underway.
